Israeli Reaction to the Recapture of the Western Wall and the Old City of Jerusalem JUNE 6-10,1967

“For some two thousand years the Temple Mount was forbidden to the Jews. Until you came — you, the paratroopers — and returned it to the bosom of the nation. The Western Wall, for which every heart beats, is ours once again. Many Jews have taken their lives into their hands throughout our long history, in order to reach Jerusalem and live here. Endless words of longing have expressed the deep yearning for Jerusalem that beats within the Jewish heart..You have been given the great privilege of completing the circle, of returning to the nation its capital and its holy center...Jerusalem is yours forever.”
–Commander Motta Gur to his brigade upon their recapture of Jerusalem’s Old City and holy sites
“We have returned to all that is holy in our land. We have returned never to be parted from it again.”
–Defense Minister Moshe Dayan, upon reaching the Western Wall
“The Wall was before us. I trembled. There it was as I had known it—immense, mighty, in all its splendor...overcome, I bowed my head in silence.”
–General Uzi Narkiss, Head of Central Command during the Six Day War
“I felt truly shaken and stood there murmuring a prayer for peace. Motta Gur’s paratroopers were struggling to reach the Wall and toudh it. We stood among a tangle of rugged, battle-weary men who were unable to believe their eyes or restrain their emotions. Their eyes were moist with tears, their speech incoherent. The overwhelming desire was to cling to the Wall, to hold on to that great moment as long as possible.”
–Chief of Staff Yitzchak Rabin
“I am speaking to you from the plaza of the Western Wall, the remnant of our Holy Temple. ‘Comfort my people, comfort them, says the Lord your God.’ This is the day we have hoped for, let us rejoice and be glad in His salvation. The vision of all generations is being realized before our eyes: The city of God, the site of the Temple, the Temple Mount and the Western Wall, the symbol of the nation’s redemption, have been redeemed today by you, heroes of the Israel Defense Forces. By doing so you have fulfilled the oath of generations, ‘If I forget thee, O Jerusalem, may my right hand forget its cunning.’ Indeed, we have not forgotten you, Jerusalem, our holy city, our glory. In the name of the entire Jewish people in Israel and the Diaspora, I hereby recite with supreme joy, Blessed art Thou, O Lord our God, King of the universe, who has kept us in life, who has preserved us, and enabled us to reach this day. This year in Jerusalem – rebuilt! “
–General Shlomo Goren, Chaplain of the Israeli Defense Forces, at the Western Wall

Come'On! Build the Temple Already!

by Tamar Yonah

Enough Crying.  Enough Mourning.
BUILD IT AND THEY WILL COME.
Reality will not let us go with tractors at this moment to prepare ground for the Third Temple.  However, at the very least, we can all work on the spiritual level of building the Temple.
In the book of Joshuah, we read in the first chapter, that G-d is telling him & the Nation of Israel that He is giving us the land, and that we must now go in and TAKE it:

א  וַיְהִי, אַחֲרֵי מוֹת מֹשֶׁה--עֶבֶד יְהוָה; וַיֹּאמֶר יְהוָה אֶל-יְהוֹשֻׁעַ בִּן-נוּן, מְשָׁרֵת מֹשֶׁה לֵאמֹר.1 Now it came to pass after the death of Moses the servant of the LORD, that the LORD spoke unto Joshua the son of Nun, Moses' minister, saying:
ב  מֹשֶׁה עַבְדִּי, מֵת; וְעַתָּה קוּם עֲבֹר אֶת-הַיַּרְדֵּן הַזֶּה, אַתָּה וְכָל-הָעָם הַזֶּה, אֶל-הָאָרֶץ, אֲשֶׁר אָנֹכִי נֹתֵן לָהֶם לִבְנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל.2 'Moses My servant is dead; now therefore arise, go over this Jordan, thou, and all this people, unto the land which I do give to them, even to the children of Israel.
3 Every place that the sole of your foot shall tread upon, to you have I given it, as I spoke unto Moses.
It is not enough that G-d give us something.  G-d may give us the Land of israel, but we must then TAKE it.  if we had chosed to stay on the other side of the Jordan river, we never would have taken possession of the Land, even though G-d GAVE it to us.  It's not enough to GIVE something.  We must then in turn, TAKE it.  G-d could give us the possibility to marry and have children, He could give us the possibility to make aliyah and move to Israel, etc... but when G-d gives, we must TAKE.  It's hard to describe in a blog, but if I say to you, "Here, try some of my wonderfully delicious home made cookies!"  It is not enough for me to hold the plate in front of you.  You must physically reach out and take one of the delicious cookies. I can stand all day long holding the plate out towards you, but if you do not TAKE it, you will never get to enjoy the cookies I am giving you.  The same with the Land of Israel.  The same with the Holy Temple.
In 1967, G-d had us liberate the Temple Mount.  He GAVE us the opportunity then and there to posses the Temple Mount and build the Temple.  We did not TAKE it.  So what do we do now, that the reality could spark a major war, if the Israeli government all of a sudden decided to physically build the Third temple?  Well, we can AT LEAST build it on a spiritual level.  One of the first things we need to do is to DESIRE it.  YEARN for it.  WANT it.  Enough mourning.  Le'ts tip the scales with ACTION.  With more good deeds, more kindness, more charity giving and personal character-trait work.  Let's talk to G-d each and every day, and tell him how much we want it.  Let us be little children again when it comes to the excitement of wanting something so bad, that you use every opportunity to get close to it.  Let us repair this national tragedy the Jewish People (and the World!) have suffered and are sorely missing in our lives.  Watch this video which has gone viral.  And then, let's take some -at least- spiritual action - and help build it, spiritual stone, by spiritual stone - until the rest of the people actually come together and agree it is time to physically re-build it!
And an email I received which you might also like to be a part of:
As the 9th of Av quickly approaches, as the mourning over the loss of the Temple and the divine service intensifies over the next several days, many hearts are open to act. This is the time to begin breaking the silence that has clouded the ongoing systemic suppression of Jewish rights on the Temple Mount.
We would like to see the petition rise to a minimum of 10,000 signatures by Sunday the 10th of Av. This year the fast is pushed from the 9th to the 10th in honor of the Sabbath. Fasting is prohibited on the Sabbath with Yom Kippur being the exception.
PLEASE URGE EVERYONE TO SIGN AND FORWARD THE DECLARATION!
By using email, facebook, twitter, message boards, news sites and more - we together can break the silence!
The Declaration can be signed at:

ISRAELIS - THE TEMPLE MOUNT IS IN OUR HANDS FOREVER

Mom, apple pie and the Temple Mount

August 13, 2012, 9:45 pm 7

Rabbi Chaim Richman is the director of the international department of the Temple Institute in Jerusalem…

For those who might have thought that the incident of Palestinian flag-flying over the nation’s holiest site qualified as incitement against the State of Israel, now we know better: the Israel Police have determined that the use of General Motta Gur’s time-honored, cherished slogan, “The Temple Mount is In Our Hands,” constitutes incitement against Arabs and can lead to violence.Members of the Bnei Akiva Youth Movement who are organizing a protest rally against the continued Wakf-sponsored archeological destruction on the Mount have received police permission to hold that rally next week, opposite the Temple Mount. However the police have now made their authorization conditional upon not holding banners with the words “The Temple Mount is in our hands” or the use of any other “slogans or speeches that incite.”One of the rally’s organizers also reported that in addition to classifying Gen. Gur’s famous Six Day War announcement as incitement, “the police warned against saying anything at all that relates to sovereignty on the Temple Mount, because such talk infuriates the Arabs.”Motta Gur’s famous statement — the pure, clarion call of eternal Jerusalem — unified a nation. One hundred and eighty IDF paratroopers died fighting for the unification of Jerusalem. If Mom, apple pie and baseball are American, then “The Temple Mount is in our hands” is quintessentially Israeli – no less than Am Yisrael Chai.  Is it racist to dream of being a free people in our own land, the land of Zion and Jerusalem? Oops, sorry, I forgot, not everyone feels comfortable singing those words of HaTikva.Of course, what makes the timing of this revelation so exquisitely absurd is its juxtaposition with the release of the most recent Palestinian Authority “incitement index.” According to Strategic Affairs Ministry director-general Yossi Kuperwasser, Palestinian incitement is “going on all the time” at an institutional level, communicated through Palestinian television, newspapers and textbooks and manifest in three distinct messages: that the Palestinians would eventually be the sole sovereign on all the land from the Jordan River to the Mediterranean Sea; that Jews, especially those who live in Israel, were not really human beings but rather “the scum of mankind,” and that all tools were legitimate in the struggle against Israel and the Jews.Evidently, definitions of incitement differ. It’s a cultural thing. While the police worry about expressions of Israeli sovereignty, the Palestinians are incited enough by the very fact that we are alive.
Meantime, archaeological destruction on the Temple Mount continues, and Jews are not permitted to pray at their holiest site.Enter the US State Department, which released its International Religious Freedom Report two weeks ago. The report is highly critical of Israel’s illegal policy of denying all non-Muslims the right to pray on the Temple Mount, despite the ruling of the High Court to the contrary, and basic Israeli law.
In truth, the most perfunctory examination of Israel’s Protection of Holy Places Law (June 27, 1967) informs us that the Israel Police should be busy arresting themselves, for their part in preventing Jews from praying:
The law reads in part: “The Holy Places shall be protected from desecration and any other violation and from anything likely to violate the freedom of access of the members of the different religions to the places sacred to them or their feelings with regard to those places…. Whosoever does anything likely to violate the freedom of access of the members of the different religions to the places sacred to them or their feelings with regard to those places shall be liable to imprisonment for a term of five years.”

Following the State Department report, National Union MK Aryeh Eldad has drafted a bill mandating separate hours for Jews and Muslims to pray at the Temple Mount. “My side of the mountain…”But as a case in point: Early on the morning of Sunday July 29, the day the fast of Tisha B’Av was observed, hundreds of Jews from all over Israel arrived at the entrance to the Temple Mount to ascend the mountain in purity and reverence, including the author of this blog. All during the preceding week, and even early that very morning, the Israel Police had given assurances that the Temple Mount would be open to Jewish visitors that day. This was communicated in response to individual inquiries as well as by reports in the media. All those who gathered in anticipation at the site that morning, after making all the necessary arrangements according to Jewish law, tending to logistics at great personal cost, and in some cases traveling great distances, did so on account of the police assurances. After keeping the crowd of Jews waiting on line in the sun, the police abruptly announced that the Temple Mount would be closed to Jews all day. No explanation was offered, and certainly no attempt was made to apologize. Later, the police issued a statement to the effect that the decision to close the Mount was based on intelligence that indicated there were plans to cause “provocations” at the site, implying that elements among the Jewish visitors were bent on causing trouble.
It was only later, in response to an appeal made by an attorney representing the Jews who were denied access, that the police clarified that the alleged, possible provocations were planned by Islamic elements. But the damage to the reputation and image of the Jewish visitors – who were collectively punished in an odd “pay it forward” response to the specter of potential Muslim unrest – had already been done, and the police had their cake and ate it, too: quiet on the Temple Mount, no headaches – and another jab at the meddlesome Jews who demand their rights of freedom of religion.MK Eldad’s initiative is an encouraging development whose time has come. But the question of Israel’s relationship to the Temple Mount needs to be addressed on the most basic level as well. How can Jews be permitted to pray on the Temple Mount when the very mention of any Jewish connection to the site is defined as incitement? How can we insist upon an undivided Jerusalem, if we cannot state that the Temple Mount belongs to Israel? Jews have been praying for world peace for almost 2,000 years.  It is inconceivable that the act of prayer, the purest expression of a soul’s yearning, should be interpreted as incitement. How can it be hoped that the police will accommodate non-Muslim prayer, while those who have been accused of prayer at the site – leading rabbis among them (including Rabbi Yisrael Ariel, founder of The Temple Institute and one of the paratroopers who fought that day with Motta Gur) – are served with illegal restraining orders, distancing them indefinitely from the Temple Mount? “Illegal” because they broke no law; Jewish prayer at the Mount is guaranteed by Israeli law. Evidence continues to mount that the police operate as a rogue agency – not like the official protectors of Israeli law, but like an independently owned and operated franchise. Or worse: Are they getting their orders from above? This mystery remains unsolved. The Temple Mount is har habayit, the Mountain of the House – it’s not just another issue; it’s the home. Every challenge we face as a people – security, the Iranian threat, peace with our neighbors, internal strife and economic prosperity – are all connected to how we relate to this place. How we relate to this place, in turn connects to how we view ourselves as a people: Who are we? Where are we going? What are our responsibilities, both to ourselves as well as to humanity? The Temple Mount is the key to Israel’s identity, and what happens there is directly related to the spiritual healing of all mankind. As long as we cannot utter a few words of simple prayer there, as long as the most fundamental yearning of a Jewish heart expressed at Israel’s holiest site is considered to be incitement, then the hearts of Israel and of all humanity will remain in dire need of that healing.

WHO DECIDES TO ATTACK IRAN

Iran, Strike or Not: Who Really Decides?

http://www.israelnationalnews.com/Blogs/Message.aspx/5031#.UDJJpqC3hko
Iran - strike or not? By Rabbi Lazer Brody
According to the media, not only is it a race of time, but time is running out.
According to the media, Israel's Prime Minister and Defense Minister are in the final stages of planning an attack on Iran.
According to the media, the President of the United States and his Cabinet are doing everything in their power to discourage/sabotage Israel's plans.
Either way, don't be upset. The media and the politicians on both sides of the ocean don't decide.
Each passing day brings Iran closer to a nuclear warhead. Only the blind and the naive would think otherwise. Despite international sanctions, the Iranian centrifuges are working 24/7 purifying uranium and producing nuclear weapons-grade fuel.

Lately, one after the other, senior American government officials such as the Secretary of State and the Secretary of Defense have visiting Israel, each carrying the same message: "Don't be naughty, you mischievous Israelis! You may certainly not carry out a preemptive strike against the Iranian nuclear reactors!"

Our leaders answer with their well-known bravado, "We won't leave our fate in the hands of others. We'll do what we need to do when we need to do."

We certainly agree with the above statement, but our references aren't the same as theirs. We don't leave our fate in the hand of "others" - in other words, other gods. We leave our fate in the hand of Hashem.

With all the hype in the media, people are frantic. They hear Iran day and night. Syria too is up for grabs, and no one knows in whose hands hundreds of tons of chemical mass-destructive weapons will fall. Then there's Hizbulla, Iran's armed-to-the-gills proxy right on our border too. Terror is on the rise in lawless Sinai. What will be?

I asked that question to my beloved teacher, Rabbi Shalom Arush, shlit'a. Recent events, especially the horror stories of breaches of holiness in the Haredi community, have taken a toll on his health.

Rav Shalom brushed aside the USA, Iran, and all of our other so-called friends and enemies with one backhand gesture. "They don't decide our fate," he said hoarsely. He had tears in his eyes, his voice was quivering, and he was obviously trying to restrain himself from crying. It was scary. "This is the Minister of the Smile?" I asked myself. Rav Shalom was seeing a very dark cloud on the spiritual horizon.

He then quoted the Torah: "And I will bring upon you the sword that avenges the vengeance of covenant" (Leviticus 26:25).

Rav Shalom then became as fierce as a lion: "When will people begin to realize that the entire purpose of Torah and mitzvoth is to bring a person to a state of holiness, so he or she can be a worthy vessel for the Divine Presence. But everyone must know: if they eat Kosher BaDatz, keep Shabbat with stringencies and have long beards - yet they think that their libido is a big mitzvah and their hearts are far from holiness - then they have done nothing! They've completely missed the point of Torah observance."

Not only have they missed the point, but they aid and abet the enemy. How?

Rav Shalom quoted Torah and mentioned "the sword that avenges the vengeance of covenant". Hashem incorporated a hard-fast law of cause-and-effect in the fiber of creation: if the Jewish people shall live their lives in holiness, they shall be encompassed within the glorious "clouds of Divine Presence;" they shall lack nothing and shall enjoy every single blessing in life, both material and spiritual. Not only that, Hashem Himself shall dwell in their midst, so no evil can befall them.

But, if on the other hand, Heaven forbid, the Jewish people forsake the path of holiness, succumbing to temptations mind and body, they shall suffer the consequences of the breach in brit, the holy covenant. Any breach in covenant produces a negative spiritual force known as "vengeance of covenant". The vengeance of covenant is the force that creates a sword of vengeance, the same way that nuclear fuel is the power source of an atomic weapon.

Are you beginning to understand?

The spiritual roots of the Iranian nuclear weapons, the "sword of vengeance" that threatens us today, are all the breaches of holiness within the Torah-observant community. Maybe you think that's not fair. "What about the seculars?" you want to ask.

Hashem expects much more from the observant community than He does from the seculars, who grew up in utter ignorance of Torah and mitzvoth.

People are afraid to be called names. One "average" religious man says, "If I go around closing my eyes, people will think I'm insane."

Rav Shalom answers, "If you open your eyes, especially to unfiltered web and to Facebook, you will be insane."

A so-called "Orthodox" woman says (wearing her long Euro-Kastem $1600 wig and her long but quite-tight satin dress that accents every curve), "Do you expect me to dress like a yachna (Yiddish for 'old hag')? I wouldn't be caught dead like that!"
Hey lady, if you continue dressing the way you do, you are creating the sword which will "catch you dead."

So maybe you're asking, "What can I do if the whole world is off its rocker and I guard my eyes?" Or, "What can I do if all the women are 'in style' and I dress like 'Little House on the Prairie'?" Rav Shalom that you're doing a lot - you just might save the Jewish people.

When the Jews arrived at the Red Sea, with the Egyptian Army in hot pursuit from behind and the sea in front, there was an argument in the Heavenly Court if the Jews were worthy of being saved or not. One man's dedication - Nachshon ben Aminadav who jumped into the water - tipped the scales in the Jews' favor and the sea split. This is what Rebbe Nachman of Breslev calls azut d'kedusha, or boldness for holiness.

Rav Shalom told me that azut d'kedusha is the only weapon which can defeat the sword of our enemies, conventional or otherwise.

So it's not our enemies or our allies that determine our fate; they don't decide. Our determination in strengthening personal holiness - guarding eyes for men and modesty for women - is the force that will determine which way the chips fall. There's little time left, so let's get to work. Personal holiness is our undesputable and irrefutable deed to the entire holy Land of Israel. The wicked Bilaam knew that Israel was invincible as long as it preserved its holiness. That's why he tempted our people with the daughters of Midian; 24,000 Jews who dropped their guard died in the aftermath. Let's not let that or anything like it happen ever again.
With our strengthened personal holiness, let Tehran worry; we here will sleep like babies, for The Guardian of Israel shall never slumber. G-d bless always.

3 BILLION DEAD IS NOT END OF THE WORLD NONESENSE

Matthew 24:3 (KJV) "...And what will be the sign of Your coming, and of the end of the age?"
Now again, the "these things"-- the destruction of the temple, are connected with the end of the age. Some translations render this "world." That is very confusing. The Greek word used here is aeon which means, "age." It is not the Greek word "kosmos" or "oikoumene," which mean the world and its inhabitants. It is not talking about the end of the physical world; the word aeon means age, era, or a period of time.

THE EARTH (WORLD) NEVER ENDS (AS WORLD ENDERS CLAIM)(THE END OF THE AGE OF GRACE ONLY)(DECIEVERS CLAIME THE END OF THE WORLD-NOT ME)

ECCLESIASTES 1:4
4  One generation passeth away, and another generation cometh: but the earth abideth for ever.(AND EVER)(WORLD NEVER ENDS)(END OF THE AGE OF GRACE ONLY,NOT THE END OF THE WORLD)

PSALMS 104:5
5  Who laid the foundations of the earth, that it should not be removed for ever.(NO END OF THE WORLDERS NONESENSE HERE)

MATTHEW 5:5
5  Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth.(FOREVER,NOT HEAVEN)

PSALMS 37:29
29  The righteous shall inherit the land,(ON EARTH) and dwell therein for ever.

ISAIAH 45:17
17  But Israel shall be saved in the LORD with an everlasting salvation:(FOREVER) ye shall not be ashamed nor confounded world without end.(JERUSALEM ISRAEL ON EARTH FOREVER-NEVER ENDING)

EPHESIANS 3:21
21  Unto him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world without end. Amen.

THESE MAYAN,NEW AGE PEACE,LOVE,JOY NUTCASES.RE-INCARNATION NUTCASES ALL BELIEVE THE WORLD IS ENDING.WELL JUST READ THE ABOVE SCRIPTURES AND IF YOU CLAIME TO BE A CHRISTIAN AND BELIEVE THE WORLD IS ENDING.I GOT A SWAMP FOR YOU IN FLORIDA.I CAN USE CASH.THESE CONSPIRACY THEORISTS THAT BELIEVE ANYTHING FROM OBAMA SIGNING A BEAM IS THE LAST HALF OF THE TRIBULATION.TO THE NOSTRODAMOUS,MAYAN NONESENSE.TO THIS HOGWASH NIBURU CONSPIRACY.WHAT IS THIS WORLD COMING TO.

PEOPLE DON'T WANNA HEAR THE TRUTH AND BELIEVE HALF OF EARTHS POPULATION WILL DIE IN WW3 FROM ATOMIC BOMBS.BUT WILL GLADLY BELIEVE CONSPIRACY THEORIIES THEY DREAM UP,THAT ITS THE END OF THE WORLD.3 BILLION OR HALF OF EARTHS POPULATION DEAD DURING THE 7 YEAR TRIBULATION IS NOT THE END OF THE WORLD.3 BILLION AT LEAST WILL BE ON EARTH WHEN JESUS COMES TO RULE FROM JERUSALEM FOREVER.HOW CAN ANY CHRISTIAN EVER BELIEVE THIS END OF THE WORLD HOGWASH,NONSENSE,IS MY QUESTION.

ZECHARIAH 14:12-13
12 And this shall be the plague wherewith the LORD will smite all the people that have fought against Jerusalem; Their flesh shall consume away while they stand upon their feet, and their eyes shall consume away in their holes, and their tongue shall consume away in their mouth.
13 And it shall come to pass in that day, that a great tumult from the LORD shall be among them; and they shall lay hold every one on the hand of his neighbour, and his hand shall rise up against the hand of his neighbour.(1/2-3 BILLION DIE IN WW3)(THIS IS AN ATOMIC BOMB EFFECT)

HALF OF EARTHS POPULATION DIE DURING THE 7 YR TRIBULATION.(THESE VERSES ARE JUDGEMENT SCRIPTURES NOT RAPTURE SCRIPTURES)

LUKE 17:34-37
34 I tell you, in that night there shall be two men in one bed; the one shall be taken,(IN WW3 JUDGEMENT) and the other shall be left.
35 Two women shall be grinding together; the one shall be taken,(IN WW3 JUDGEMENT) and the other left.
36 Two men shall be in the field; the one shall be taken,(IN WW3 JUDGEMENT) and the other left.
37 And they answered and said unto him, Where, Lord? And he said unto them, Wheresoever the body is, thither will the eagles be gathered together.(Christians have new bodies, this is the people against Jerusalem during the 7 yr treaty)(Christians bodies are not being eaten by the birds).

SO YOU CONSPIRACY NUTS CAN BELIEVE WHAT YOU WANT.I KNOW THE WORLD ISRAEL-JERUSALEM GOES ON FOREVER-NEVER ENDING.

ISAIAH 9:6-7
6 For unto us a child is born,(JESUS 1ST COMING) unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder:(2ND COMING JESUS RULES FOREVER FROM JERUSALEM) and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.
7 Of the increase of his (JESUS) government and peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David,( IN JERUSALEM)(NOT NIBURU) and upon his kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even for ever. The zeal of the LORD of hosts will perform this.

One in seven thinks end of world is coming: poll

NEW YORK | Tue May 1, 2012 6:46pm EDT
(Reuters) - - Nearly 15 percent of people worldwide believe the world will end during their lifetime and 10 percent think the Mayan calendar could signify it will happen in 2012, according to a new poll.
The end of the Mayan calendar, which spans about 5,125 years, on December 21, 2012 has sparked interpretations and suggestions that it marks the end of the world.
"Whether they think it will come to an end through the hands of God, or a natural disaster or a political event, whatever the reason, one in seven thinks the end of the world is coming," said Keren Gottfried, research manager at Ipsos Global Public Affairs which conducted the poll for Reuters.
"Perhaps it is because of the media attention coming from one interpretation of the Mayan prophecy that states the world 'ends' in our calendar year 2012," Gottfried said, adding that some Mayan scholars have disputed the interpretation.
Responses to the international poll of 16,262 people in more than 20 countries varied widely with only six percent of French residents believing in an impending Armageddon in their lifetime, compared to 22 percent in Turkey and the United States and slightly less in South Africa and Argentina.
But only seven percent in Belgium and eight percent in Great Britain feared an end to the world during their lives.
About one in 10 people globally also said they were experiencing fear or anxiety about the impending end of the world in 2012. The greatest numbers were in Russia and Poland, the fewest in Great Britain.
Gottfried also said that people with lower education or household income levels, as well as those under 35 years old, were more likely to believe in an apocalypse during their lifetime or in 2012, or have anxiety over the prospect.
"Perhaps those who are older have lived long enough to not be as concerned with what happens to their future," she explained.
Ipsos questioned people in China, Turkey, Russia, Mexico, South Korea, Japan, the United States, Argentina, Hungary, Poland, Sweden, France, Spain, Belgium, Canada, Australia, Italy, South Africa, Great Britain, Indonesia, Germany.

IRAN DANGEROUS WITH NUKES

EZEKIEL 38:1-12
1 And the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,
2 Son of man, set thy face against Gog,(RULER) the land of Magog,(RUSSIA) the chief prince of Meshech(MOSCOW)and Tubal,(TOBOLSK) and prophesy against him,
3 And say, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I am against thee, O Gog,(LEADER OF RUSSIA) the chief prince of Meshech(MOSCOW) and Tubal:TOBOLSK)
4 And I will turn thee back, and put hooks into thy jaws,(GOD FORCES THE RUSSIA-MUSLIMS TO MARCH) and I will bring thee forth, and all thine army, horses and horsemen, all of them clothed with all sorts of armour, even a great company with bucklers and shields, all of them handling swords:
5 Persia,(IRAN,IRAQ) Ethiopia, and Libya with them; all of them with shield and helmet:
6 Gomer,(GERMANY) and all his bands; the house of Togarmah (TURKEY)of the north quarters, and all his bands:(SUDAN,AFRICA) and many people with thee.
7 Be thou prepared, and prepare for thyself, thou, and all thy company that are assembled unto thee, and be thou a guard unto them.
8 After many days thou shalt be visited: in the latter years thou shalt come into the land that is brought back from the sword, and is gathered out of many people, against the mountains of Israel, which have been always waste: but it is brought forth out of the nations, and they shall dwell safely all of them.
9 Thou shalt ascend and come like a storm, thou shalt be like a cloud to cover the land, thou, and all thy bands, and many people with thee.(RUSSIA-EGYPT AND MUSLIMS)
10 Thus saith the Lord GOD; It shall also come to pass, that at the same time shall things come into thy mind, and thou shalt think an evil thought:
11 And thou shalt say, I will go up to the land of unwalled villages; I will go to them that are at rest, that dwell safely, all of them dwelling without walls, and having neither bars nor gates,
12 To take a spoil, and to take a prey; to turn thine hand upon the desolate places that are now inhabited, and upon the people that are gathered out of the nations, which have gotten cattle and goods, that dwell in the midst of the land.

Barak: A Nuclear Iran Will be Infinitely More Dangerous

Defense Minister Ehud Barak in the Knesset: There are risks in attacking Iran, but it will be infinitely more risky if it has nukes.By Elad Benari First Publish: 8/17/2012, 5:46 AM

Defense Minister Ehud Barak explained on Thursday why it is important that the issue of Iran's nuclear program be resolved as soon as possible.Barak spoke at a Knesset discussion during which Avi Dichter was sworn in as Home Front Defense Minister. During the meeting, criticism was leveled at Barak and Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu by members of the opposition for the way they are dealing with the Iranian issue.Barak, however, made it clear that dealing with a nuclear Iran would be infinitely more dangerous and more expensive.“There are risks in the situation today, it's not simple, not risk-free,” said Barak and stressed that on the other hand, “It's infinitely more dangerous, complicated, complex and costly in human lives and resources to deal with a nuclear Iran in the future.”He clarified that the government will be the body that will decide on the matter. “The prime minister and defense minister and foreign minister have authority, we have the forum of nine senior ministers, there is a cabinet and the decision, when the time comes, will be made by the Israeli government. That is how it always was and that is how it should be. Not groups of citizens and not even editorials [will make the decision].”Barak added, “I have been sitting for many years in government meetings. I say to you,  members of the Knesset and the public, there is no issue - neither peace nor war – that has been discussed at this depth, in such detail, time after time in government, inside closed rooms, in an open and responsive manner and in a more transparent manner than ever before. That does not mean that there is no controversy, but the subject is being discussed.”There has been continued speculation that Israel is close to striking in Iran. Some have speculated that such an attack by Israel could likely occur in September or October.Israel’s former national security adviser, Uzi Dayan, told The New York Times on Wednesday that Netanyahu and Barak have not yet decided to attack Iran’s nuclear facilities and could be dissuaded from a strike, if President Barack Obama approved stricter sanctions and publicly confirmed his willingness to use military force.Prior to Barak’s remarks, Kadima chairman Shaul Mofaz attacked Netanyahu over the reports about a possible Israeli attack on Iran's nuclear facilities.“Mr. Prime Minister, you are creating panic,” he said. “You are trying to scare us and horrify us. And the truth is - we really are afraid. We are afraid of your lack of judgment, we are afraid that you are being led rather than leading, we are afraid that you are implementing a dangerous and irresponsible policy.”

Vilna'i: We Can Cut Expected Casualties in Iran War by 90%

Outgoing Minister Matan Vilna'i says that if Israel follows through on Homefront Command defense plans, fewer will die in a regional war By David Lev First Publish: 8/16/2012, 11:37 AM

Outgoing Homefront Command Minister and Deputy Defense Minister Matan Vilna'i wrote Thursday that, if a regional war does take place if and when Israel attacks Iran's nuclear facilities, the country was well-prepared to face threats posed by Hizbullah and Hamas. As Homefront Command Minister, Vilna'i wrote, he has drawn up detailed plans that would ensure that the vast majority of Israelis, as well as most of Israel's infrastructure, survive an attack by terror groups and Iran. Those plans, he wrote, could cut the expected number of casualties from a possible regional war by 90%The document was a summation of the activities of Vilna'i as Homefront Command Minister, the post he was named to in 2011, as well as his activities in the Defense Ministry since 2007. Many of the plans that he drew up for home front safety – including distribution of gas masks and reinforcement of schools and other public buildings – have been adopted, but more needs to be done. Vilna'i is leaving the Homefront Command, as he has been appointed Israel's ambassador to China. The new Homefront Command Minister, Avid Dichter, was sworn in on Thursday morning. With bigger budgets for the Homefront Command, Vilna'i wrote, Israel could ensure that more of its residents will be able to survive a regional war that most experts believe will take place if Israel or the U.S. attack Iran's nuclear facilities. Iran itself may or may not strike back, the experts said, but Hamas and Hizbullah almost certainly would. Between the two of them, the terror groups have tens of thousands of missiles aimed at Israeli population centers and infrastructure, and they are likely to fire them if Iran is attacked. In addition, Iran, Syria, or the terror groups themselves could attack Israel with chemical weapons.
Going on the theory that the home front will become the front lines in the event of such a war, Vilna'i wrote that he embarked on a program that would defend Israelis residents and infrastructure. Some of the innovations are security secrets, while others, including mass distribution of gas mask kits, were public knowledge. Vilna'i said that he had managed to secure budgets to provide 60% of Israelis with the kits, but that more money would be needed to expand the program. If the plans that are already in place are brought to fruition, Vilna't wrote, many more Israelis will survive a regional war. Currently, security experts believe that, based on current security measures, one person on average will be killed for every thousand missiles fired at Israel. Vilna'i wrote that he believed that Israel could reduce that number to one casualty for every 10,000 rockets, if the plans already in progress are completed.

Israeli Strike in Iran: Cyber-attack, Ballistic Missiles

What will an Israeli strike on Iran look like? American blogger Richard Silverstein on Wednesday published what he claimed is an Israeli briefing document outlining Israel’s war plans against Iran.Silverstein, who authors the blog “Tikun Olam”, said the document was passed to him by a high-level Israeli source who received it from an IDF officer. According to the document presented in the blog, the Israeli attack on Iran “will begin with a coordinated strike, including an unprecedented cyber-attack which will totally paralyze the Iranian regime and its ability to know what is happening within its borders. The internet, telephones, radio and television, communications satellites, and fiber optic cables leading to and from critical installations will be taken out of action. The electrical grid throughout Iran will be paralyzed and transformer stations will absorb severe damage from carbon fiber munitions which are finer than a human hair, causing electrical short circuits whose repair requires their complete removal.”Following the coordinated strike, according to the document, “A barrage of tens of ballistic missiles would be launched from Israel toward Iran. 300km ballistic missiles would be launched from Israeli submarines in the vicinity of the Persian Gulf. The missiles would not be armed with unconventional warheads [WMD], but rather with high-explosive ordnance equipped with reinforced tips designed specially to penetrate hardened targets.“The missiles will strike their targets—some exploding above ground like those striking the nuclear reactor at Arak–which is intended to produce plutonium and tritium—and the nearby heavy water production facility; the nuclear fuel production facilities at Isfahan and facilities for enriching uranium-hexaflouride.  Others would explode under-ground, as at the Fordo facility.“A barrage of hundreds of cruise missiles will pound command and control systems, research and development facilities, and the residences of senior personnel in the nuclear and missile development apparatus,” continues the document exposed by Silverstein. “Intelligence gathered over years will be utilized to completely decapitate Iran’s professional and command ranks in these fields.”The document then adds, according to Silverstein’s blog, “After the first wave of attacks, which will be timed to the second, the ‘Blue and White’ radar satellite, whose systems enable us to perform an evaluation of the level of damage done to the various targets, will pass over Iran. Only after rapidly decrypting the satellite’s data, will the information be transferred directly to war planes making their way covertly toward Iran. These IAF planes will be armed with electronic warfare gear previously unknown to the wider public, not even revealed to our U.S. ally. This equipment will render Israeli aircraft invisible. Those Israeli war planes which participate in the attack will damage a short-list of targets which require further assault.”Silverstein wrote that the source that passed the document to him would not do so normally, but that “these are not normal times. I’m afraid Bibi and Barak are dead serious.”Silverstein added that while whoever wrote the briefing paper had use of IDF and intelligence data, he does not believe the IDF wrote it, adding that the document could have been written by the National Security Council or even by Defense Minister Ehud Barak himself.

United Church affirms Israeli settlements boycott

accept a comprehensive boycott, the report named the Israeli occupation of Palestinian territory as a major challenge to a two-state solution in the Middle East.Members of the United Church of Canada, the country’s largest Protestant denomination, voted Wednesday to affirm a controversial motion supporting a boycott of goods produced in Israeli settlements on the West Bank and in East Jerusalem.Wednesday’s vote was preceded by nearly six hours of contentious debate, in which the church’s general council members nitpicked the proposal’s wording and heard drawn-out testimonies from representatives on both sides of the issue. The motion was one of several recommended by a report released by a church working group last May. Along with calling on church hierarchy to Bruce Gregersen, a United Church general council officer and spokesperson who assisted the working group, called the vote Wednesday a “significant step” toward the church’s affirmation of the entire proposal.“I think the mind of the council appears to be clear,” he said. “If there was any sense that all the (anti-report) lobbying was going to have an effect, the council made up its own mind, irrespective of the lobby.”Voting results were not immediately available but Gregersen said voters were “substantially in favour” of the boycott motion. The general council will vote again Friday on whether to confirm the proposals as official church policy. The United Church general council comprises more than 350 delegates from across Canada. Nearly three million Canadians identify themselves with the United Church, according to Statistics Canada. The vote was met with swift condemnation by some members of the Canadian Jewish community, who say a boycott will create an irreparable breakdown of relations between the two religious groups. In the months since the report was released, Jewish leaders, United Church insiders and a group of nine Canadian Liberal and Conservative senators, all United Church members, have spoken out against the boycott, accusing the United Church of taking sides on the testy topic of Israeli-Palestinian politics.“The reaction of the Jewish community is one of unbridled outrage,” Shimon Fogel, CEO of the Centre for Israel and Jewish Affairs, said Wednesday. “It is beyond comprehension that (the United Church) would choose to so skew a commentary on the conflict and come out with so one-sided an approach.”An online survey, commissioned by CIJA and Faithful Witness, an anti-boycott group led by a United Church pastor, found 78 per cent of church members believe the church should remain neutral on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. From July 11-16, the Gandalf Group polling firm surveyed 501 Canadians who attend United Church services at least once a month. The poll is considered accurate within a margin of error of 4.38 percentage points, 19 times out of 20.

Boycott of Israeli settlements would shatter United Church’s credibility

On Tuesday, the United Church of Canada (UCC) will vote on the Report of the Working Group on Israel/Palestine Policy, which includes a church-wide boycott of goods from Israeli settlements. That report, sadly, has failed to grasp what’s really at stake in this decision. A boycott of Israel launched in any form would put the United Church outside the genuine peace movement and the Canadian consensus on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. As hurtful as this would be to the Jewish community, it pales in comparison to the long-term damage it would cause to the reputation of one of Canada’s foremost voices in civil society: the United Church itself.Granted, the church has removed a disturbing statement from the original report that the deepest meaning of the Holocaust was the denial of human dignity (and posits a moral equivalence with the challenges faced by Palestinians). Yet the report still calls on the UCC to “acknowledge with deep regret” its past policy of asking the Palestinians to recognize Israel as a Jewish state. What this move would achieve is anyone’s guess. But the notion that the Palestinians can continue to deny Israel’s legitimacy as a Jewish state (as it was explicitly affirmed by the UN’s 1947 partition resolution) only relieves the Palestinian leadership of the duty to reconcile with its neighbour – and with reality. No less disturbing is the report’s thesis that the occupation is “the primary contributor to the injustice that underlies the violence in the region,” that settlements are the chief obstacle to peace, and that Israel alone must be pressed to resolve the conflict. Put aside that the Arab-Israeli conflict began in 1948 (decades before settlements existed) and that the violent repression in Syria and throughout the region has nothing to do with Israel. On the issue of settlements, we have history as our guide. In 1982, Israel withdrew every last settler from the Sinai after securing a peace agreement with Egypt. Both countries have since benefited from peace. In 2005, Israel withdrew every settler from Gaza as a unilateral gesture without a peace agreement. Civilians in southern Israel have since been targeted by some 10,000 missiles and mortars from Hamas and other terror groups in Gaza.
History is clear. Israeli withdrawals must include peace and security guarantees signed by Israel’s neighbours, as per international law under UNSC Resolution 242.It’s astonishing that Israel’s removal of thousands of settlers from the Sinai and Gaza is not mentioned once in the UCC’s report – despite “settlements” appearing no fewer than 54 times. That “terrorism” is mentioned once and “Hamas” and “Hezbollah” receive no mention at all speaks volumes to the report’s lack of balance. Indeed, it reflects a minimization of key obstacles to peace (including anti-Jewish incitement, continuing terrorism, and yes, Hamas – the archetype of Arab rejection of the Jewish state).Peace will come only through negotiations and painful concessions by both Israelis and Palestinians. This is the consensus among most Canadians and across the political spectrum (the NDP, under both Jack Layton and Thomas Mulcair, firmly rejected boycott, divestment and sanctions efforts). No doubt this reflects the majority of UCC members, who would hope to play a constructive role in supporting the legitimate aspirations of both sides. Should a small minority of boycott advocates succeed, the greatest resulting injury would not be to the relationship between the UCC and the Jewish community, but rather between the UCC and its own congregants. The framework for resolving the Arab-Israeli conflict described above is also upheld by the mainstream peace movement, which is engaged in a myriad of projects to bring both sides together. To contribute to this movement, one need not refrain from criticizing particular Israeli policies (as Israeli peace activists can attest). One must simply commit to advancing peace through balance, mutual obligations and reconciliation – rather than coercion and the singling out of one side for blame.Unfortunately, were the UCC to launch a church-wide boycott, it would alienate one of Canada’s most prominent churches from this important cause. In so doing, the church would not only be turning away from Canada’s Jewish community, but ultimately from the UCC’s own tradition as a leading voice in civil society for fairness, moderation and peace.Shimon Fogel is CEO of the Centre for Israel and Jewish Affairs, the advocacy arm of the Jewish Federations of Canada.

10 PLAGUES AND TODAYS NEWS-SEE AND HEAR

KING JESUS IS COMING FOR US ANY TIME NOW. THE RAPTURE. BE PREPARED TO GO.

COMPLETE STORY
http://inthedoghouse.hubpages.com/hub/Ten-Plagues-For-Ten-Gods

The Ten Egyptian Plagues testify of Jesus Christ and His power to save.

Moses and Aaron are sent as messengers of the Lord, to Pharaoh, to instruct him to let the children of Israel go "so that they may serve the Lord." It is further stipulated that they must be allowed to travel a three days journey so that they may offer their sacrifices as a means of worship.
Pharaoh responds simply, "Who is the Lord, that I should obey his voice to let Israel go? I know not the Lord, neither will I let Israel go." Soon however, Pharaoh will find out who this God is, and why he should obey His voice. He will understand His power over all the other Egyptian gods and goddesses.
These ten Egyptian plagues not only demonstrated the power of God to Moses, the children of Israel, the Egyptians, and Pharaoh, but they were of such magnitude that they would be remembered for all generations, throughout the entire world. They again testify, as does both the Old and New Testament alike that salvation, from beginning to end, is only accomplished through Jesus Christ, "the author and finisher of our faith." (Heb 12:2)

Corresponding Egyptian God and Goddess to the type of plague:

Type of plague that God pronounced upon Egypt:

Hapi- Egyptian God of the Nile

Egyptian Plague- Water Turned to Blood

The first plague that was given to the Egyptians from God was that of turning the water to blood. As Aaron, the spokesman for Moses, touched the "rod" of the Lord to the Nile River it immediately turned to blood, all the fish died, and the river stank. Partially able to duplicate this miracle, the magicians of Pharaoh also turn water into blood, leaving Pharaoh unimpressed with this great wonder from God.
Seven days the water throughout all the land of Egypt remained in this state, unsuitable for drinking, the perfect length of time to demonstrate that the Lord was superior to all the other Gods of Egypt.

Heket- Egyptian Goddess of Fertility, Water, Renewal

Egyptian Plague- Frogs coming from the Nile River

Still, Pharaoh refused to let the children of Israel go from the presence of Egypt.
The second plague that was extended upon Egypt, from the "rod" by Aaron, was that of frogs. The frogs came up from the river and were in their houses, in their food, in their clothing, in every place possible. From the greatest to the least, no one in Egypt escaped the plague of frogs. Pharaoh's magicians were able to bring more frogs in their attempt to imitate the power of God, but only Moses was able to make the frogs go away. This was another attack on a famous Egyptian Goddess, Heket.

Geb- Egyptian God of the Earth

Egyptian Plague- Lice from the dust of the earth

Still Pharaoh would not concede, even after this display of power from the Lord, or magnificent plague, he would not let them go.
At the command of the Lord to Moses, Aaron was told to stretch forth his rod and smite the dust of the earth. When he did the dust became lice throughout all the land, on both people and beasts. The very dust that was referred to in the creation process of man is now used to plague men, as a reminder of his mortality and sin which both lead to death.
Finally, the magicians of Pharaoh are humiliated, being unable to compete with this power that was so much greater than themselves and the powers that they had from their Egyptian gods and goddesses, and they profess, "this is the finger of God." This was the last plague that required Aaron's involvement, as the next set of three plagues are issued by the word of Moses himself.

Khepri- Egyptian God of creation, movement of the Sun, rebirth

Egyptian Plague- Swarms of Flies

With the fourth Egyptian plague, which consisted of flies, begins the great miracle ot separation or differentiation. Moses met Pharaoh at the Nile River in the morning and made the demand, speaking on behalf of the Lord, "Let My peole go, that they may serve Me." Again, Pharaoh hardened his heart and disregarded the request, resulting in a pronouncement of swarms of flies.
This time, however, only the Egyptians are affected by the judgement, or plague, and the children of Israel remain unscathed. This wonder also moves the Egyptian plagues to a different level, adding destruction as well as discomfort to the consequence of their decisions.
Plagued by flies, Pharaoh tried a new tactic and begins bargaining with the Lord, showing his desire to maintain power and authority over God. He tries to dictate the terms and conditions of the offer, telling them they may sacrifice but only "in the land" clearly not complying with the requested "three days journey" that the Lord required. Moses wouldn't budge, and Pharaoh relented allowing them to leave, but telling them not to "go very far."
This temporary allowance is made solely to have Moses "intreat the Lord that the swarms of flies may depart", at this point Pharaoh has learned in part who the Lord is and asks for His assistance over the Egyptian gods and goddesses. As soon as the request is granted by the Lord, Pharaoh reneges on his promise and will not let them go, and continues to worship his Egyptian Gods.

Hathor-Egyptian Goddess of Love and Protection

Egyptian Plague- Death of Cattle and Livestock

Moses once again demanded of Pharaoh, "Let my people go, that they may serve me", revealing also the next Egytian plague to occur on the condition of continued disobedience to the request. This plague was given with an advanced warning, allowing a period of repentance to occur, which goes unheeded.
"Tomorrow" the hand of the Lord would be felt upon all the cattle and livestock, of only the Egyptians, as"grievous murrain." This means that disease and pestilence would fall upon their livestock with so severe a consequence as to cause them to die. This plague affected the Egyptian by creating a huge economic disaster, in areas of food, transportation, military supplies, farming, and economic goods that were produced by these livestock. Still Pharaohs heart remained hard and he would not listen to the Lord but remained faith to the Egytian gods and goddesses.

Isis- Egyptian Goddess of Medicine and Peace

Egyptian Plague- Ashes turned to Boils and Sores

Unannounced the sixth Egyptian plague is given, for the first time, directly attacking the Egyptian people themselves. Being instructed by the Lord, Moses took ashes from the furnace of affliction, and threw them into the air. As the dust from the ashes blew all over Egypt, it settled on man and beast alike in the form of boils and sores.
As with the previous two, throughout the remaining Egyptian plagues the division is drawn between the Egyptians and the children of Israel, as God gives protection to his covenant people. The severity of the judgment of God has now become personal, as it is actually felt by the people themselves.
Cleanliness being paramount in the Egyptian society, this plague pronounces the people "unclean." The magicians who have been seen throughout the previous plagues are unable to perform ceremonially rituals to their Egyptian Gods and Goddesses in this unclean state, not allowing them to even stand before Pharaoh; they are seen in the scriptural account no more. It is great to notice the contrast shown as Moses and Aaron are the only ones left standing in front of Pharaoh, with the "One True God" as their support.

Nut- Egyptian Goddess of the Sky

Egyptian Plague- Hail rained down in the form of fire

Again warning is given before the enactment of the plague takes place. Pharaoh is warned of the impending doom that will be faced if he does not listen to the Lord, and forget his own Egyptian gods and goddesses.
Hail of unspeakable size and ability to destroy, would rain down from the sky and turn to fire as it hit the ground. The Lord, in showing Pharaoh that "there is none like Him in the Earth", allows those who are willing to hear His word, and do as He commands, to be saved.
A division is now felt between the Egyptians in the form of those "converted" to the Lord, as shown by their obedience and willingness to escape to the protection of their "houses." Similarly we are warned to make our houses a place of refuge from the world today, we have been warned.
Interestingly enough, the crops that were destroyed by the hail consisted of flax and barley, which were ripening in the fields. These two particular crops were not the mainstay of their diet, but were used more specifically for their clothing and libations. This destruction would make their life uncomfortable, but as far as effecting their food supply , the wheat still survived. This gave the Egyptians still another chance to turn to "the One True God", and forsake their own Egyptian gods and goddesses, thus showing His mercy and grace even yet.

Seth- Egyptian God of Storms and Disorder

Egyptian Plague- Locusts sent from the sky

Still Pharaoh would not listen to the message of the Lord, still he relys on his own Egyptian gods and goddesses.
The eighth plague issued by the Lord had an even greater purpose than all the others, it was to be felt so that Pharaoh would tell even "his sons and son's sons" the mighty things of the Lord, thus teaching even future generations of the power of the "strong hand of God" over all the other Egyptian gods and goddesses.
Moses and Aaron approached Pharaoh with the same request, "Let my people go so that they may serve me", and pronounced the judgment of locusts if not heeded. This is the second wave of destruction to follow the hail, and whatever crops were left in tact after that display, were now completely consumed by the swarms of locusts that were unleashed from the sky. This wonder definitely affected their life source. By hitting them in their food supply, the Lord displayed the possibility of eminent death if a change of heart did not occur. Yet still, Pharaoh would not listen.

Ra- The Sun God

Egyptian Plague- Three Days of Complete Darkness

Darkness now fell upon Egypt, unannounced, as a prelude to the future fate to be felt by the Egyptian empire when the message of the Lord was not heeded, and they still turned to their own Egyptian gods and goddesses. Three days of palpable darkness, that was so immense it could be physically felt, covered the land of Egypt.
The sun, the most worshipped God in Egypt other than Pharaoh himself, gave no light. The Lord showed that he had control over the sun as a witness that the God of Israel had ultimate power over life and death. The psychological and religious impact would have had a profound influence on the Egyptians at this point. Darkness was a representation of death, judgment and hopelessness. Darkness was a complete absence of light.

Pharaoh- The Ultimate Power of Egypt

Egyptian Plague- Death of the Firstborn

Pharaoh, the king of Egypt, was worshipped by the Egyptians because he was considered to be the greatest Egyptian God of all. It was believed that he was actually the son of Ra himself, manifest in the flesh.
After the plague of darkness felt throughout the land was lifted, Pharaoh resumed his position of "bargaining with the Lord" and offered Moses another "deal." Since virtually all of the Egyptian animals had been consumed by the judgments of the Lord, Pharaoh now consented to the request made, to let the people go, but they must leave their animals behind.
This was a totally unacceptable offer, as the animals were to be used as the actual sacrifice to the Lord. The Lord is uncompromising when He has set the terms.
Enraged by the refusal, Pharaoh pronounced the last deadly plague to be unleashed upon the land from his very own lips as he warns Moses, "Get thee from me, take heed to thyself, see my face no more; for in that day thou seest my face thou shalt die."
And Moses said, "Thus saith the Lord, About midnight will I go out into the midst of Egypt: And all the firstborn in the land of Egypt shall die, from the firstborn of Pharaoh that sitteth upon his throne, even unto the firstborn of the maidservant that is behind the mill; and all the firstborn of beasts. And there shall be a great cry throughout all the land of Egypt, such as there was none like it, nor shall be like it any more."
At this point the passive obedience that the children of Israel have shown is now moved to a level of active obedience. They are given strict instructions to follow so that they do not also feel the judgment of this last plague sent by the Lord. These instructions are known as "The Feast of Passover", "The Feast of Unleavened Bread", and "The Law of the Firstborn." In these rituals are displayed the law of sacrifice, the law of the gospel, and the law of consecration, all necessary requirements to receive ultimate salvation from spiritual death.

"Let My people go that they may serve Me"

As God's children today we have learned through this great show of power that ultimately it will require "active obedience" to receive salvation from the "One True God."
Looking back over the instructions that were given to Pharaoh to "let my people go that they may serve me", this principle is manifest throughout. Service to the Lord is the requirement of His people, and the blessing for this show of obedience and sacrifice is the ultimate salvation not only from physical death but from spiritual death as well.
