Israel raises the dead with skyward cemetery-Associated Press-By ARON HELLER-OCT 17,14-YAHOONEWS
PETAH
TIKVA, Israel (AP) — At first glance, the multi-tiered jungle of
concrete off a major central Israeli highway does not appear unusual in
this city of bland high-rises. But the burgeoning towers are
groundbreaking when you consider its future tenants: They will be homes
not for the living but rather the dead. With real estate at a premium,
Israel is at the forefront of a global movement building vertical
cemeteries in densely populated countries. From Brazil to Japan,
elevated cemeteries, sometimes stretching high into the sky, will be the
final resting place for thousands of people. They are now the default
option for the recently departed in the Holy Land. After some initial
hesitations, and rabbinical rulings that made the practice kosher,
Israel's ultra-Orthodox burial societies have embraced the concept as
the most effective Jewish practice in an era when most of the cemeteries
in major population centers are packed full."The source of all this is
that there is simply no room," said Tuvia Sagiv, an architect who
specializes in dense burial design. "It's unreasonable that we will live
one on top of the other in tall apartment buildings and then die in
villas. If we have already agreed to live one on top of the other, then
we can die one on top of the other."The Yarkon Cemetery on the outskirts
of Tel Aviv has been his flagship project. As the primary cemetery for
the greater Tel Aviv area, its traditional burial grounds are at near
capacity with 110,000 graves stretched across 150 acres. But thanks to
an array of 30 planned vertical structures, Sagiv said the cemetery will
be able to provide 250,000 more graves without gobbling up any more
land, providing the region with 25 years of breathing room."It takes
some getting used to," he admitted, as he stood on the roof of the first
completed 70-foot-high (22-meter-high) building, "but it just makes the
most sense."For now, the interior of the gray buildings looks mainly
like a construction site. They feature circular ramps, and a
terrace-like facade with vegetation. Each floor has openings on the
sides for fresh air to get in.Cemetery overcrowding presents a challenge
the world over, particularly in cramped cities and among religions that
forbid or discourage cremation. The reality of relying on finite land
resources to cope with the endless stream of the dying has brought about
creative solutions. The world's tallest existing cemetery is the
32-story high Memorial Necropole Ecumenica in Santos, Brazil. In Tokyo,
the Kouanji is a six-story Buddhist temple where visitors can use a
swipe card to have the remains of their loved ones brought to them from
vaults on a conveyer belt system.Versions of stacked cemeteries already
exist in some shape or form in places like New Orleans and across
Europe, in Egypt's Mountain of the Dead, in China and in the
amphitheater-like Pok Fu Lam Rd Cemetery in Hong Kong. But the future
will likely look more like the ambitious plan of Norwegian designer
Martin McSherry for an airy cemetery skyscraper that looks like a
gigantic honeycomb with triangular caverns.Other plans for cemetery
towers have been presented for Paris and Mumbai. In Mexico City, another
big project has been proposed: the Tower for the Dead, which will
combine a vertical necropolis and an 820-foot-deep (250-meter-deep)
subterranean complex. In China, Beijing residents have been provided
subsidies to buy space in vertical cemeteries. But only in Israel does
the phenomenon appear to be part of a government-backed master plan.
Aside from those who have already purchased their future plots,
individual outdoor graves are no longer offered to the families of the
more than 35,000 Israelis who die each year. The first space-saving
option is to put graves on top of each other — separated by a concrete
divider — and have a shared headstone. This is common among couples and
even whole families, and every new pit dug in Israel has room for at
least two graves in it. The second option is stacking the dead above
ground into niches built into walls, a bit like in a morgue, but adorned
with headstones. The third, and most revolutionary option, is to be
buried in a building where each floor resembles a traditional cemetery,
without the blue sky above. For this upheaval to take off in Israel,
though, the blessing of the rabbis was needed. Israel's rabbinical
authorities oversee all burials of Jewish Israelis. The Jewish burial
ritual is based on the passage in Genesis in which God banishes Adam and
Eve from the Garden of Eden: "For dust you are — and to dust you shall
return." Jewish law stipulates that all bodies be buried separately on a
layer of dust and earth.Yaakov Ruza, the rabbi of the Tel Aviv burial
society, a semiofficial organization that oversees Jewish burials, said
the new forms of burial have been endorsed by leading Jewish
ultra-Orthodox figures. The towers, for instance, have pipes filled with
dirt inside their columns so that each layer is still connected to the
ground. In many ways, Ruza said the new types of burial represent a
return to the Holy Land's ancient origins of burying inside caves and
catacombs."This is an artificial cave," he said. "Once they used to
build a cave into a mountain. Now we are taking these artificial caves
and turning them into a mountain."Jerusalem's burial society even has
plans to dig an actual underground cave to find more room for the
dead.Proponents say the new system is more sustainable, environmentally
friendly and user friendly — providing a more comfortable visiting
experience. But resistance has emerged from a public wary of change. In
one famous case, a bereaved family threatened a cemetery official that
if their loved one was put in a wall they'd put the official in a wall
too.Shmuel Slavin, a former director-general of Israel's Finance
Ministry who put together a report on the country's burial crisis, said
there is no reason for such an emotionally fraught overhaul of an
ancient tradition. He believes there is enough space in outlying areas,
such as the vast Negev Desert in southern Israel, to build new
cemeteries. He said technological advances could allow more burials in
existing cemeteries, and that the new "dead cities" will be expensive to
build and maintain. But the bottom line, he said, was that people just
don't want to be buried that way. "People don't want to hear about it,"
he said. "There is a matter of tradition here. People want to be buried
like their parents."Officials say those who insist on traditional burial
will still have that option; they'll just have to drive a little
further and pay for it. Cemeteries, they say, are not designed for the
dead but rather for the living who want to visit them. The hope is that
by attending funerals, people will be exposed to the new system and
learn to appreciate its upside.Either way, burial officials say a
growing number of people understand that change is inevitable."We are
all in favor of burying in the open field so long as it does not
infringe on our lives. So if there is no more room to build homes in
Jerusalem, I prefer burying in layers," said Chananya Shahor, manager of
the Jerusalem burial society. "God gave us land for living, not for
dying."____Follow Aron Heller on Twitter @aronhellerap

Terrorists Try to Burn Jews Alive in Jerusalem-'Silent intifada'
spirals out of control; terrorists hurl firebombs at Jewish homes in
dead of night to burn sleeping inhabitants.By Dalit Halevy, Ari

Arab
terrorists hurling molotov cocktail firebombs at Jewish homes, trying
to burn entire families as they sleep - it has become part of a routine
of terror in the Israeli capital of Jerusalem, where a "silent intifada"
has been raging under the radar of major news outlets.A new video shows
just shocking and potentially lethal the wave of terror has become; the
video, uploaded to YouTube on Thursday, shows Arab terrorists from the
Al Sawana neighborhood just east of the Old City, between the Mount of
Olives and Hebrew University's Mount Scopus campus, lobbing firebombs at
Jewish homes. The terrorists can be seen charging the homes in the dead
of night clutching their molotov cocktails, before releasing the bombs
at the houses in large arcs and then turning tail to flee the scene. Two
of the firebombs are seen catching, setting alight the homes with
blazing fires. Miraculously, the inhabitants were able to avoid the
urgent danger.Palestinian Authority (PA) Chairman Mahmoud Abbas's Fatah
faction has been actively promoting the recent terror wave, with senior
PA official Jibril Rajoub saying in August his organization had made a
"political decision" not to stop anyone from "slaughtering a
settlement."Fatah terrorists have also been engaged in gun battles in
and around Jerusalem, and were recently filmed firing automatic weapons
into the air in the capital. Hamas has also been getting in on the
action; another recent video shows terrorists with Hamas headbands
shooting at an IDF Border Patrol post with modified sub-machine guns in
Jerusalem's Shuafat neighborhood.Aside from the shooting incidents, Jews
have been targeted in several ambush lynch attempts, aside from the
incessant rock throwing attacks. The Temple Mount, the holiest site in
Judaism, has been a focal point of the Arab violence, with Arab riots
repeatedly forcing the closure of entry to Jewish visitors. The
Jerusalem Light Rail has also been hard hit by the rioters, who have
destroyed the three stations in Arab-majority neighborhoods and continue
damaging the trains as they pass through.Shockingly, Israeli police
have been revealed to be hushing up Arab terror in Jerusalem, as
Jerusalem Mayor Nir Barkat urged the media to stay quiet on the topic in
order to avoid potential harm to local tourism. Finally he broke down
earlier this month and called on Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu to
end the "silent intifada."Such action has not been forthcoming, as just
this Monday after more violent Arab riots on the Temple Mount Netanyahu
called for the "status quo" of the site to be preserved.

Greater
Jerusalem Area' Plan Key to Sovereignty? Minister Yisrael Katz proposes
that Judea-Samaria sovereignty begins with Jerusalem - and expanding it
as much as possible.By Shimon Cohen-First Publish: 10/17/2014, 11:15
AM-ISRAELNATIONALNEWS
Sovereignty over Judea and
Samaria is dependent on sovereignty in Jerusalem, Transportation
Minister Yisrael Katz (Likud) declared in an interview published Friday.
Katz presented his plan to establish full Israeli sovereignty over the
full State of Israel in an interview with the Sovereignty journal,
published by Women in Green. In the interview, he dubs the first stage
the "Greater Jerusalem" plan. "I envision autonomy for Arab residents
like what was decided at Camp David," Katz explained, referring to the
2000 Camp David summit. At the time, the status of Arab neighborhoods in
Jerusalem was heavily disputed. In the Israeli negotiators' incarnation
of a deal, the Palestinian Authority (PA) would have had civilian
autonomy - but not full sovereignty - over Arab neighborhoods and the
Temple Mount."This [plan] was the most correct, and it's a shame that
discussion surrounding it was discontinued," Katz lamented. "Every
attempt to establish a full Palestinian state in the first place is
doomed to fail. I'm talking about autonomy and ties with Jordan, a form
of citizenship and political affiliation that would enable that they
[Palestinians] lead their lives well, but without security and foreign
affairs autonomy."The comment echoes statements by Defense Minister
Moshe Ya'alon, also of the Likud party, who on Wednesday called for
giving the PA autonomy although not a state. But to Katz, the time is not
yet ripe. The political arena, he says, is a battleground - where to
navigate between right and left, you must attack the enemy's weakest
point. Katz has identified this point for the political Left as
Jerusalem. Katz's "battle plan" is to establish sovereignty over
"Greater Jerusalem" - the many neighborhoods beyond 1949 Armistice Lines
that are under the legal jurisdiction of the capital city - and declare
it as, unequivocally, the State of Israel under full political law,
rather than leave it to IDF governance.According to Katz, this small
move - which would include Ma'ale Adummim, Beitar Illit, Givat Ze'ev,
and most of Gush Etzion - could pave the way for full annexation of
Judea-Samaria. Katz says that the model for this is European capitals,
such as London or Paris - all of which have metropolitan areas which are
taken for granted as being part of the city. Katz is convinced that the
idea of expanding Jerusalem is impossible for the Left to oppose in
any meaningful way, as all parties have agreed on similar moves in the
context of a future peace deal. The minister's assertions surface amid
tensions over Jerusalem's future, both politically and
practically.Earlier this month, Housing Ministry figures revealed that
the housing crisis has deepened - in no small part due to a "covert"
building freeze in Jerusalem and Judea-Samaria - and pressure is being
put on opponents to sovereignty to ease the burden for thousands of
young couples without affordable housing. Meanwhile, the green light has
been given for rampant illegal construction in Arab neighborhoods of
Jerusalem - an attempt to establish facts on the ground to divide
Jerusalem and establish the groundwork for a Palestinian state.

Time's The Charm? Housing Minister Slams Freeze-Ariel of Jewish Home
comes out once again against his own coalition government's silent
freeze of Jewish construction.By Meir Sela, Ari Yashar-First Publish:

Jewish Home
Housing Minister Uri Ariel and MKs Shuli Moalem-Refaeli and Moti Yogev
on Thursday evening were in the Samaria community Givat Assaf, which has
been threatened with destruction, for the second hakafot celebrations
at the end of Simchat Torah. While there Ariel addressed Prime Minister
Binyamin Netanyahu directly, saying "enough of the (construction)
freeze, this word is a foreign and difficult word. In the land of Israel
we don't freeze anyone, in the land of Israel we only build, and I call
on him (Netanyahu) to build the land of Israel in all its parts and
regions."This was in fact the third time - and the second time this week
- that the housing minister has acknowledged his coalition government
is conducting a building freeze on Jews in Judea, Samaria and eastern
Jerusalem, and vowed to stop it.In the Samaria town of Itamar on Sunday,
Ariel said "the lack of building is understood G-d forbid as a prize to
terror, and I turn to the prime minister and say to him: don't bring us
to a trying experience, don't let the situation of this coalition and
the government be undermined because of the building freeze. Start to
build."Likewise, Ariel said back in May "there will be no more freezes,
we will not accept delays and restrictions in Jerusalem, Judea and
Samaria, and we will continue to build in all parts of our
country."Despite his frequent protestations, his role as housing
minister and his party's prominent position in the coalition, the freeze
has continued unabated, blocking the natural growth of communities for
hundreds of thousands of Jews amid a severe housing crisis.Jewish Home
has likewise faced criticism for speaking against the release of 78
terrorists as "gestures" during the peace talks, but staying in the
coalition government that released them.
"Givat Assaf shall overcome"
In
Givat Assaf, Ariel also discussed the challenges facing the town;
nearly all of the town has been purchased and registered in the state
land registry by residents, and further there are no Arab complainants
claiming ownership of the land. But last month the state reversed its
position, telling the Supreme Court it doesn't plan to recognize the
town."After there was a murder here and then another murder we couldn't
abide by the way Jewish blood became abandoned," said Ariel. "It is true
this community is facing great difficulties, but Beit El and other
communities also overcame them."Praising the members of the community,
Ariel said "fortunate are we that you are our settlers, our sons and our
fighters. With G-d's help, this year we will merit to establish here a
fixed community as this place deserves."Moalem also spoke at the event,
saying "coming to Givat Assaf for me is first of all a connection to the
wonderful people who for many years have carried this community on
their backs. Families, single men and women who really come from a true
place of memory in remembering the secret of redemption."The MK also
backed Ariel's statement against the freeze, saying his words "are
really simple and clear to the prime minister, to the security minister,
to the state attorney: change the tune. In Givat Assaf we must
normalize it as a fixed community, to allow here the building of fixed
homes, to allow many additional families who want to come here to do so
and build their homes."Regardless of the freeze, it evidently hasn't
been enough to satisfy UN Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon, who on Monday
in Ramallah said "we must tackle the root causes of instability. We must
give renewed attention to the West Bank. I once again strongly condemn
the continued settlement activity by Israel."
The
Struggle to Keep Eastern Jerusalem Property in Jewish Hands-Neighborhood
occupied by Arabs in 1929 riots - now Councilman King tells Arutz Sheva
about his fight to maintain Jewish ownership.-By Hezki Ezra, Ari
Yashar-First Publish: 10/15/2014, 7:59 AM-ISRAEL NATIONAL NEWS
Arieh
King, Jerusalem councilman and director of the Israel Land Fund, told
Arutz Sheva about the struggle he has been engaged in over the last year
to keep a block of buildings in the "Eshel Avraham" Georgian
neighborhood area of eastern Jerusalem in Jewish hands. The site in
question consists of a dunam of property, and three homes spread over
800 meters in the neighborhood located opposite the Damascus Gate to the
north of the Old City on Hanevi'im Street. The neighborhood was
established in 1892 by Jews who immigrated from Georgia and held 100
homes for affluent families - and later violently occupied by Arabs in
the 1929 riots that killed seven local Jews and destroyed homes and
synagogues in the neighborhood. In April, around the Jewish holiday of
Pesach (Passover), the Jewish families in France who still hold the
rights to the block decided to sell it for roughly 11 million shekels
(nearly $3 million) and turned to a real estate agency to help them in
doing so.The agency owner suggested the site to King, who found a buyer
from America interested in purchasing the property. However, a few days
later, roughly 10% of the property was sold to an Arab family despite
the fact that the American buyer had "shaken hands" on the deal. Now
King is trying to facilitate the purchase of the rest of the property,
and fears outside influences and shady money may endanger the chances of
keeping the property in Jewish hands. In recent days, one of the owners
agreed to sell 50% of the property in his possession, and currently both
sides are engaged in negotiations."Jews were slaughtered there less
than 100 years ago"Asked whether the whole issue is a matter of money,
King told Arutz Sheva "yes and no, we don't want the owners to take a
loss and are even willing to pay him 10% more; on the other hand, we
don't want Jews to take advantage of the situation and try to extort
us.""The main thing is to leave the property in Jewish hands," stated
King. "Jews were slaughtered there less than 100 years ago by an Arab
mob; the place must not be transferred to Arab control."King
acknowledged that with owners who don't care about selling to Jews or
non-Jews, instead only being interested in the money, "it's difficult to
deal with them, and I can only hope that the history and future of the
Jewish people, and the past of his family and community are more
important to him than money."King has been leading the push for
retaining the Jewish nature of Jerusalem in his post as Jerusalem
councilman, a position that ran him afoul of Jerusalem Mayor Nir Barkat
after King petitioned the Jerusalem District Court over Barkat's plan to
build 2,500 Arab housing units in Al-Sawahira Al-Gharbiyya - in
response, Barkat dismissed King from his coalition posts. The project
adds to a neighborhood sensitively located in the Kidron Valley between
the Old City and the East Talpiyot neighborhood, which already today has
3,000 illegal Arab housing units. The new project would allow 5,500 new
units in the neighborhood, greatly increasing Arab residents and
threatening the demographic balance as Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu
freezes Jewish building amid a housing crisis.Between Netanyahu's
freeze and Barkat's advance of Arab building and lack of enforcement
against rampant illegal Arab construction that already has built 40,000
illegal Arab housing units in the capital adding 800 new ones each year,
King has warned that the two are leading to a de facto division of the
capital.
UN Envoy Meets Hezbollah Leader Who Called to
Destroy Israel-Israel asked UN to disarm Hezbollah after attack on
border last week - instead, UN envoy and coordinator chat with deputy
chief.-By Ari Yashar-First Publish: 10/17/2014, 10:52

Israel last Wednesday asked the
UN to demand the disarmament of the Iran-proxy Hezbollah terror
organization in Lebanon a day after it wounded IDF soldiers with two
explosives set on the border - instead, this Thursday the UN sent an
envoy to chat with the terror group's deputy leader.UN special envoy to
Syria Staffan de Mistura was accompanied by UN special coordinator for
Lebanon Derek Plumbly on Thursday as he met Lebanese Prime Minister
Tammam Salam and Foreign Minister Gebran Bassil, reports the Lebanese
The Daily Star. The two then met with Sheikh Naim Qassem,
second-in-command behind Hassan Nasrallah of the terror organization
that has pledged to destroy Israel and launched numerous attacks to do
so.Making the meeting the more astonishing is the fact that Hezbollah's
"military wing" was added to the European Union's (EU) official terror
list last July. After meeting Qassem in his Beirut office, de Mistura
said his visit to the terror group was part of consultations with all
parties to find a "political solution" to problems in the Middle East,
particularly the internecine bloodshed in Syria where Hezbollah is
helping to prop up President Bashar Assad's regime. The UN envoy said his
viewpoint was identical with the terror group that a Syrian solution
should be political - despite the fact that the group has been sending
thousands of troops and is actively engaged in the bloody fighting."It
has been confirmed that a political solution will save Syria and its
people. Everyone must expect painful concessions in this respect. But it
is the only solution at hand. There is no other solution," said
Qassem.De Mistura also called for political unity in Lebanon while
meeting with the terror group, saying "the Lebanese political
environment should be stabilizing the sooner and the better."
Israel, "enemy of humanity"?
Meanwhile
the Hezbollah deputy in May called Israel the "main enemy," adding
"Israel is the enemy of humanity and truth. It cannot coexist with
anyone," and promoting violent terrorism instead of political dialogue
with the Jewish state. After claiming the attack last week, Qassem said
his terror group is ready to fight Israel. The meeting comes as Hezbollah
is expanding its influence, holding a clandestine meeting on Wednesday
in Beirut with a senior Hamas official and vowing strong ties with the
group. For the UN's part, the meeting comes amid a recent upsurge in
anti-Israel rhetoric, with UN Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon slamming
"settlement activity" on Monday in Ramallah despite Prime Minister
Binyamin Netanyahu's covert building freeze against Jews.Ban also called
for a return to peace talks on Tuesday while receiving an IDF tour of
Hamas terror tunnels - even though Hamas has already restarted
construction on the terror tunnels, and bragged that the IDF didn't
destroy all of the tunnels, an assessment this week backed by an IDF
commander.Regardless of that, and the fact that humanitarian materials
were siphoned by Hamas to build the tunnels in the first place, Israel
began transporting more construction materials into Gaza on Tuesday as a
"humanitarian gesture," including 600 tons of cement, 50 truckloads of
aggregate and 10 truckloads of steel.

over the age of 50, in an attempt to limit the young Arab rioters
expected to return to their increasingly frequent occupation of violent
clashes with police to block Jewish entry.According to intelligence
information received by the police, Arab youths are indeed planning to
riot after Friday morning prayers. Police and Border Patrol forces will
be deployed from the early morning hours in eastern Jerusalem and the
Old City to try and prevent riots. However, many are left wondering if
they will succeed, after similar moves to limit entry to Muslim males
over 50 while allowing Muslim females of all ages on Hoshana Raba
Wednesday, the last day of the Jewish holiday of Sukkot, still ended
with Jewish entry being cancelled due to the violent riots.Only 103 Jews
were able to visit the holiest site of Judaism on the holiday before
the closure, during riots in which at least three police officers were
lightly hurt by Muslim rioters throwing rocks at them at a gate to the
Temple Mount, in rioting that in places was reportedly led by Arab
MKs.While only Muslims aged over 50 were allowed in, they too exhibited
contempt for the Jewish pilgrims, shouting wildly at them. Jewish
activists reported that the Muslims were conducting raucous prayers in
the Temple Mount plaza, while Jews were still forbidden from any kind of
prayer by the Jordanian Waqf (Islamic trust) that holds de facto
control of the site. The rioters on the Mount, part of a recent wave of
violence in Jerusalem, were caught off guard on Monday when police
stormed the Temple Mount and locked them inside the Al-Aqsa Mosque. The
youths had collected rocks and fireworks and prepared firebombs, which
they stored inside the Al-Aqsa Mosque in order to use them against
police and interfere with non-Muslim visits to the Mount. That same day
in Ramallah, UN secretary general Ban Ki-Moon slammed the enforcement as
a "provocation," saying "I am...deeply concerned by repeated
provocations at the holy sites in Jerusalem. These only inflame tensions
and must stop."Rabbi Shmuel Rabinowitz, the rabbi of the Kotel (Western
Wall) and Holy Sites, last week decried the Arab attempts to wreck the
week-long Sukkot holiday by violently rioting to block Jewish visitors,
warning the Temple Mount has been turned into a "terror base."Speaking
to Arutz Sheva, the rabbi argued that the Arab rioters are intentionally
trying to prevent Jews from reaching the site on Sukkot, one of the
three Jewish pilgrimage holidays that in ancient times required Jews to
travel to the Temple in Jerusalem.

Praises Iran Role in Gaza War Against Israel-Ramadan Shallah says
'victory' against Israel during summer's Operation Protective Edge due

The head of the Islamic Jihad
terrorist group praised Iran for its role in last summer's Gaza conflict
against Israel, during a visit to Tehran on Thursday."Definitely, the
victory was achieved with the assistance of the Islamic republic,"
Ramadan Abdullah Shallah said at a meeting with Iran's supreme guide,
Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, quoted by Fars news agency."Without Iran's
strategic and efficient help, resistance and victory in Gaza would have
been impossible," he said of the 50-day war in which 2,200 Gazans and 73
Israelis died and the Hamas-ruled territory suffered serious
damage..Iran, whose government is sworn to Israel's destruction, is one
of the world's leading sponsors of terrorism, and a longtime backer of
both Hamas and Islamic Jihad. Iran has been the primary supplier of the
rockets Islamist terrorists in Gaza have used to target Israeli
civilians, as well as other support in terms of weaponry, funding and
training.Recently, a senior Iranian military official claimed Iran was
also helping terrorists fight Israel "in the field."Iran has also been
actively working to arm terrorists in Judea and Samaria. At the meeting
with Shallah, Khamenei, also quoted by Fars, urged the terrorists to
"boost their preparedness day by day and reinforce their resources"
ahead of any further Israeli assault on the territory. The Islamic Jihad
leader was skeptical of the $5.4 billion in international aid to rebuild
Gaza that was pledged at a donor conference in Cairo last Sunday. "We
do not pin much hope on such promises and only rely on God to compensate
losses inflicted on us by the Zionist regime," said Shallah, referring
to Israel which launched its July-August assault on Gaza with the aim of
halting rocket fire on its towns, and destroying dozens of tunnels
infiltrating into Israeli territory in preparation for terrorist
assaults.AFP contributed to this report.
